Eastern Visayas and Pilar
Eastern Visayas is a region of the Philippines that is home to over 4 million people. EVACE's Philippines base is on Ponson Island, an island of 12,000 people that is a long ferry ride away from grocery stores, hospitals, libraries, and universities. As of 2016, most of the population now benefits from running water and 24-hour electricity. The largest town on the island, and the sole municipality, is Pilar. The island is only 10 square miles but is home to 12 small towns
